Matt Anderson at St John's Kitchen

Matt Anderson visited St John's Kitchen to share some music before his show at Centre in the Square. He posted the photo and statement below to his Facebook Page.

"Earlier today I was invited to play at the St. John's Kitchen here in Kitchener. I played for the folks as they had their lunch. The people here are doing a really great thing serving on average 300 hot meals a day, 5 days a week.

It was a fun afternoon, and as much as I realize that music can be uplifting and put a smile on a troubled face, it doesn't put food in your belly or clothes on your back.

So, at my show tomorrow night at Centre in the Square in Kitchener I will be selling my new album, "Honest Man" for $15(reg $20) to anybody that brings in an item to be donated to the folks at St. John's.

Here's a list of what they need:

  • Mugs
  • Tea towels, bath towels, and dish cloths
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Toiletries (razors,tooth brushes,soap,deodorant,shampoo,lotion,pads,tampons,combs)
  • Bus Tickets
  • Shoe Laces
  • Plastic Shopping Bags
  • Plastic Containers with lids

Head to the dollar store, keep an eye open on the bargain bins or clear out your shelves of the things you've bought but have never used(new items only please).

You get a deal on some new music and even more you get to make a day a little easier on somebody who needs it right here in your own community.

If you'd like to reach out to St. John's to make your own donation, volunteer or just find out more about what they do contact 519-745-8928 or email tomf@theworkingcentre.org"

Thank you Matt for your generous spirit!
